Summer Vacation to Nagano
We took a couple of days off and went to visit some friends in Nagano, Saku city.
From Tokyo, as the crow flies, it is only about 85 Miles or 138 Km, but this is Japan, and outside of the Kanto plain, where Tokyo Met is, there are lots of mountains. I think the actual trip was closer to 250 Km or 150 miles. We left at midnight, and got to a rest area near Saku at about 3 AM, not bad. We slept in the van until about 6 AM and then had breakfast.
We called our friends and met them at a nearby public pool, where we spent the morning and afternoon.

One Hundred Statue place
| We went to this place along a
river that has hundreds of these carved Buddhist statues, small ones,
large ones, old ones, new ones. We walked around and had a good look, the pictures are only OK, as the day was just about over and the light was failing. Some very neat shots, and some really neat looking stuff. |

Mochizuki Rekishi Minzoku Historical Museum

We went to this Historical Museum in Mochizuki, which
is on the old Nakasendo road, a road that ran from Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto. |
